VMEG credits calculator: know the bill before you upload

VMEG credits burn by four numbers — and they multiply by every target language you add, which is exactly where budgets break. Drag the sliders below to price your real workload before you subscribe to anything.

How VMEG credits are consumed

The official FAQ confirms the two rates this tool uses: 60 credits per minute for standard translation (a 5-minute video costs 300 credits) and an extra 60 per minute when lip sync is enabled. Credits from an annual subscription stay valid for 12 months, monthly credits renew each cycle, and re-editing an already-purchased video costs nothing extra — so iterating on subtitles or swapping a voice does not double your bill.

Three ways to stretch a small plan

  • Translate without lip sync first; enable it only for the hero language where mouth movement is visible in close-ups. That alone halves the per-minute cost.
  • Trim dead air before uploading. Billing follows video length, so two minutes of silence is 120 wasted credits per language.
  • Batch related languages into one purchase and reuse the edit session — the re-edit-for-free rule (see theofficial FAQ) applies per video, not per language.

A worked example: the 10-minute course video

Say you teach online and want a 10-minute lesson in Spanish, Portuguese and Japanese. Standard translation: 10 × 3 × 60 = 1,800 credits — exactly the middle Studio tier for one month. Add lip sync to the Spanish version only (your biggest audience) and the bill becomes 2,400 credits, still under the top tier. Run the same lesson through a per-minute competitor at $2 per dubbed minute and the same three languages cost $60 — roughly a third more than the credit route. This is why the billing model, not the sticker price, decides which platform is cheaper for your workload. And when a total lands just above a tier boundary, trimming intros and outros before upload is almost always cheaper than jumping to the next subscription level.

Numbers here mirror the entry Studio tier ($25/month, 900 credits). If your total lands above 3,000 minutes a month you are in enterprise territory — compare options inVMEG alternativesbefore committing either way.
